South Medford High tonight started the defense of their 2006/2007 State Basketball Championship with their first game of the new season at home in Medford. They defeated a taller Mountain View High School team from central Oregon near Bend by 25 points. There was a good crowd on hand for the game. All reserved seat have been sold for the season. Michael Harthun, who has signed a letter of intent for Washington State, looked good but so did the other players from South who were extremely fast. We have our old reserved seats and will be back in the stands tomorrow afternoon when South plays Bend High. Go Panthers!
