Good News for Dennis Dixon & Oregon Fans

Dixon’s MRI confirms sprained left knee
University of Oregon spokesman Dave Williford said Monday that an MRI on Duck quarterback Dennis Dixon’s injured left knee confirmed the original diagnosis that Dixon has only a sprained left knee.

Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said Sunday that he believed Dixon would be back in practice today if the original diagnosis proved to be correct.

Dickson was also named Pac-10 Player of the week. Dixon is the first Oregon player to be Pac-10 player of the week three times in one season since the conference began the award in 1983.

Dixon is also hot in the race for The Heisman Trophy.

All of this is good news for Oregon Duck Fans who almost had collective heart failure when Dennis went down in the 4th quarter against Arizona State University at Autzen Stadium on Saturday night. When he stayed down in apparent pain after a hit by an ASU player the crowd of 59,000 couldn't wait for him to get up. He then got up and hobbled off the field. Since then many of us have been on "pins and needles" waiting for the results of his MRI.

I will be the first to admit I was not a big fan of Dennis at the beginning of the season... but he has proved the old adage about college football, a quarterback does not really reach his best potential until his senior year. I have found this true year after year.
