Republicans Rally to the United States House floor in Washington DC!

The U.S. House adjourned for a 5-week summer break earlier today, but House Republican lawmakers stayed behind to talk about rising energy costs and gas prices. Republicans said they stayed behind to talk because House Democrats refused to allow them votes on their energy proposals. The House returns for legislative business on Monday, Sept. 8.

The Democrats have turned off the lights, microphone and cameras but Republicans will not leave the floor of the United State House and are fighting for lower energy cost for the American People!

Just got this heads up from a Hill staffer. The Democrats may have gone on vacation, but House Republicans are on the floor today, working on behalf of taxpayers to push energy proposals forward. Nancy Pelosi, meanwhile, is busy hawking her miserably performing book–currently ,1726 on Amazon.com:

Update:Rep. Hoekstra says Pelosi is gathering Capitol Hill police to clear the floor by 4:30 EST. Will the Dems forcibly remove Republicans who want a vote?? http://twitter.com/petehoekstra

It’s over
Right at the stroke of five Georgia Rep. Tom Price announced that House Republicans were ending their impromptu protest on the floor of the chamber, ending a five-plus hour mock rebellion with a round of “God Bless America.”

The assembled tourists, aides and members in the chamber gave Price and his compatriots a standing ovation. They left the chamber to shouts of “USA! USA! USA!”
C-SPAN: Don't blame us for not airing GOP revolt

C-SPAN, the network of congressional coverage, wants everyone to know that the GOP revolt on the House floor — Republicans don't want to go home until they are allowed a vote on offshore oil drilling, even though the House has adjourned — is not their fault.

C-SPAN has just issued this statement: "A number of media organizations have incorrectly referred to 'C-SPAN cameras' being turned off and not providing televised coverage of the GOP House members' post-adjournment protest on energy policy being held on the House floor on Friday afternoon. Please note that cameras in the House chamber are under the control of the Speaker of the House and that all media organizations, including C-SPAN, wishing to cover events in the chamber must use the official House TV feed. No private media cameras are permitted in the House (or Senate) chambers."
