As usual Bob Welch of the Eugene Register-Guard writes it best:
And the Bard is right: UO’s 45-38 victory over the Badgers on Monday night promises to warm Duck fans with the balmy pleasantry of Pasadena through the dark, wintry months ahead.
Perhaps even beyond for those of us old enough to remember when pain wasn’t a last-second loss in a national championship game but a 14-game losing streak (1974-75) or shutting out Oregon State and still not winning (0-0 in 1983).

It’s Charlie Brown going to kick the football and, for once, Lucy not pulling it away at the last second.
With the exception of the 2002 Fiesta Bowl, that has happened in the four recent marquee bowl games the Ducks have played in: the 1995 Rose Bowl, the 2010 Rose Bowl and last year’s BCS Championship.
The hoopla. The hype. The game. The loss. The cold winters that followed each.

What mattered was simply knowing that for one day, in a place that is to college football what Augusta is to golf, Oregon won the day.
Enabled some of us old-timers to check another item on our bucket list.
And staved off another winter of discontent.
