Ernie Kent Fired!

Eugene, Oregon TV station KVAL is reporting that University of Oregon head men's basketball coach, Ernie Kent, was fired by AD Mike Bellotti on or about February 22. Click on the title for a link to the KVAL news story.

For me this is bittersweet news. Anyone who has read this blog know I wanted Ernie to be replaced but on the other hand Ernie bleeds green and yellow. He gave it everything he had and was successful in many ways. However, the bottom line is winning or at the least having competitive teams on a regular basis that give it all they have and that has been lacking the last few years. Tonight the Ducks beat Washington State to avoid the basement of the Pac 10 at season end. The Duck's finish in 9th place after finishing 10th last year. So long Ernie, thanks for the memories as a player and coach. You will always be a Duck!

UPDATE:

In regular season Pac-10 play Oregon had a winning record only 4 seasons out of 13. He had a 9 and 9 record for two seasons and 7 seasons with a losing record.
