Canzano: Aliotti's smash-mouth defense leaves Oregon smiling



More on Oregon's win over the Cal Bears yesterday. The Oregonians Canzano has a nice column about Oregon's Defensive Coordinator Nick Aliotti. Oregon fans including myself have given Aliotti a lot of guff over the years for a "bend but don't break" defense that sometimes does both. No one should ever question Nick's effort because he gives everything he has in his job. It is always good when nice thing happen to good people. Click on the title for a link. Aliotti has coached 25 players at Oregon who went on to play in the NFL. His defense led the country in tackles behind the line of scrimmage two years ago. But too often, his defenses haven't attacked enough or performed well enough, and so what we had on Saturday was a four-quarter smash-mouth symphony
