Trip Journal, Day 5:"Back to Washington DC from New York City"

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Sunday morning in New York City. We got up and walked a couple of blocs and had breakfast at a sidewalk restaurant. We then walked over to the Folk Art Museum and my wife bought some quilting fabric in their gift shop. While she and our daughter were doing that I bought some small posters, from a street merchant, for the Broadway musicale's we had seen. (Mamma Mia and South Pacific) We then checked out of our hotel and took a taxi to the Penn Station area for our bus trip back to Washington DC. While waiting for the bus I pointed out the Empire State building to my wife. We then had a 5 hour plus bus trip back to Washington with heavy traffic.

Counting the cars on the the New Jersey Turnpike. They've all come to look for American. All come to look for America, All come to look for America.
America by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel

In fact, we had a nice trip through part of the Delaware countryside as our bus driver took an alternate route to avoid some of the freeway traffic. On the trip I read my book "Gods and Generals". Back in DC we took a Taxi back to our daughters condo.
