The Big Trail Special Editon
In 1930 John Wayne stared in "The Big Trail" a story of a wagon trains journey west. It was the first time John Wayne had stared in a major feature film. The movie did not do well and it was nine year before Wayne was cast by John Ford in "Stagecoach" in 1939 and became a Star. In between he made dozens of cheep westerns. The "The Big Trail" is already out on DVD but now a new wide screen special edition will be released in a two disk DVD set on May 13, 2008. I have the old DVD and a longer version of the movie on VHS tape. In fact, the VHS tape version is better than the old DVD version that was put out without much care. Let's hope the new set will be an improvement. Next, they need to resore "The Quiet Man" and put out a new cleaned up version on DVD.
