Stanford Week !!!

Yes, this is Stanford week. The Oregon Ducks will travel to "The Farm" to take on the Stanford Indians....er... Cardinal on Saturday and it is Oregon's most important game of the season. In 2007, a mere two years ago, ESPN Gameday came to Eugene and Oregon beat U$C and had the inside track to the Rose Bowl. Oregon QB Dennis Dixon then went down and Oregon lost three games down the stretch and ended up in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas and U$C ended up in the Rose Bowl. Stanford is a good team and Oregon better be ready.

In 2001 an Oregon team led by Joey Harrington would have played in the National Championship game BUT FOR a loss to Stanford in Eugene! Oregon was leading going into the 4th quarter 42 to 28 but lost when Stanford scored 21 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to win the game 49 to 42. The box score is as follows:

That was Oregon's only loss that season. Oregon still won the Pac-10 but because the National Championship was being played at the Rose Bowl, Oregon went to the Fiesta Bowl and beat Colorado.
