Empty Nest Summer of 09
My wife and I have been "empty nestors" since our youngest child, our son, left for college some 7 years ago. However, he has come home from college or graduate school for at least a month or so since then and it is something his mother and I have looked forward to each summer. We enjoy his company. He and his mother enjoy cooking and shopping for food. I enjoy discussing politics and history with him and we both enjoy late night movies either on DVD or at a local theater or a play in Ashland. He loves July 4th fireworks and his birthday is shortly thereafter. This year he will not be home. For the last few summers he had a job here in Medford at a local retail store as a cashier. This summer he has a job back east where he goes to graduate school working as a cashier in in a gift store attached to a chain restaurant. Oh, his mother and I will visit him and his sister for a few days this summer; but, he will not be coming home and we will miss him.
